The Driscoll Chair incorporates the floating back comfort of my rocking chairs into a dining or occasional chair. The back angle is ideal for a leisurely dinner and conversation. Cherry with rosewood wedge. The Rock Creek Table is made of Pacific madrone, with the base cut from a Douglas fir log. The chairs are made of Pacific madrone and jatoba. The red of the bubinga backrests complements the bleached maple of this set. Both chairs and table are made with through-tenon joinery.

In 1906 Samuel Dittenhofer commissioned the Minnesota architect, Clarence Johnston, to design a wedding present for Dittenhofer's son: a house that would take its place among the stately mansions of St. Paul's Summit Avenue. Built by local craftsmen and artisans brought over from Europe, the mansion and its original interior woodwork and extensive wood carvings remained virtually intact through an entire century. When Kay Savik and Joe Tashjian bought the house in the late 1990s, they asked me to design a dining set with a modern flair that would meld with the columns and gargoyles that gird the building's large formal dining room. I made the set in African bubinga to complement the fumed oak interiors of this Clarence Johnston masterpiece. The use of hand forged iron for the leg structure allows a very clean understory, free of obstructions to the knees. Pacific madrone This is a drop leaf table. Pacific madrone
