St. Paul Settee

.The St. Paul Settee was created for a couple from, yes, St. Paul, Minnesota, who invite guests to their house for chamber music recitals. Most of the couple’s furniture was designed and made by George Nakashima, so the settee needed to work with Nakashima’s design sense, as well as accommodate two guests side by side who may not know each other. I guess it’s a not-so-love seat or, perhaps, a love-tinged-with-personal-space seat. The wood is figured California black walnut from a tree that grew on a farm near Zamora, California.
